Oerlikon C28

Face Milling-Single Part Process - continuous process:
- Workpiece and tool (usually Spiron) rotate simultaneously, all teeth are produced simultaneously in one operation.
- Knife head has several knife groups (not arranged in a circle)
- Parallel height tooth
- Conical tooth tip surface

Single part procedure:
- Workpiece is stationary and tool (usually Arcon) rotates and cuts a tooth by plunging the tool.
- Once a tooth has been cut, the tool moves out of the tooth again, the workpiece divides by one tooth width and the next tooth is cut until all teeth are finished.
- The knife head has all knives arranged on a circular path.
- Conical tooth height
- Parallel tooth tip surface

The C28 can do both, wheel + pinion.
For the single part process, a C28 must be “prepared” - ie direct measuring system + part gear brake workpiece axis + license file for manufacturing single part processes.
