Overview

The SpectraMax M2 (and enhanced M2e) from Molecular Devices is a high-performance multi-mode microplate reader designed for flexible detection in life science applications. It combines absorbance, fluorescence, and optional luminescence in a compact benchtop instrument ideal for ELISA, DNA/protein quantification, enzyme kinetics, and cell-based assays.

Multi-detection capability: Supports absorbance, fluorescence (top-read), and with the M2e, adds bottom-read fluorescence, luminescence, and time-resolved fluorescence (TRF).

Top- and bottom-read fluorescence: Bottom-read only on the M2e for enhanced cell-based assay sensitivity.

Dual-mode cuvette port: Enables standard spectrophotometry outside of microplate format.

Dual monochromators: Selectable excitation and emission wavelengths (1 nm increments) without the need for filters.

PathCheck® Technology: Automatically normalizes optical pathlengths for absorbance, ensuring accurate, cuvette-equivalent readings.

Well volume sensor: Prevents errors from low-volume or uneven well filling.
